HOLD MY HAND

Hold my Hand, 2021, soap, 15 x 10 x 8 cm

These soap hands were inspired by the living situation under pandemic. In those days, people avoided any physical approach and hand hygiene became important. This is a functional artwork; a hand people can hold without any concern about viruses. An artwork aims to keep viruses away and fulfilling loneliness in our mind at the same time. The ideal place to show this artwork is nearby sink in restroom, thus people can really use it. The hands will be shaped by every touch. It will keep dissolving and shattering until it is no longer recognizable as an art, but just an ordinary soap.

“Hold my Hand” showed in “The Colour of Memory” group exhibition at Bomb Factory, London, UK in November 2022. The surface of these hands was covered with droplets due to the location. The artwork installed near the entrance, where cold air from outdoors meets the warm air inside the building, therefore condensed on the surface of the soap.
