INVISIBLE FOREST

Invisable Forest, 2021, leaves, dimension variable
"Invisible Forest" is a simple artwork that just moved a large number of dry leaves from outside to indoor. A single piece of leaf may be brought indoors by shoes accidentally, but leaves that can cover whole space are something that shouldn't be there. The rustle when people stepping, and the overwhelming smell create an illusion of an invisible forest. However, the wall and ceiling emphasize the absence of trees and sky.
The exhibition space is a white cube space without four seasons. This is an unchangeable place, heaters make the temperature stable, cleaners maintain the tidy room, and the absence of window let it totally separated from the outside. In contrast, outside is a constantly changing world. And autumn is the season of transition. The artwork becomes a transition point between indoor and outdoor. Therefore, it created a surreal and relaxed experience for the audience.
